The West Seattle High School Alumni Association believes that education benefits the individual student as well as the community at large. While some of our graduates go directly into the work place, others wish to pursue further education at colleges and universities. Alumni Scholarships assist WSHS graduates who possess gifted minds and a passion for higher learning but face a financial roadblock, in furthering their formal education.
Since 1958 the West Seattle Alumni Association has been providing scholarships to deserving students pursuing college degrees. These are WSHS graduating seniors who, without the help the scholarships provide, may not have been able to realize their dreams of a college education.
Over the years ours has become one of the largest scholarship funds in the United States. This has been made possible by generous donations from the WSHS alumni. Additionally, the Alumni Association scholarship fund has been the recipient of gifts, in the form of bequests or endowments, from a number of generous alums who remembered the Association in their wills. These donations allow the WSHS Alumni Association the ability to offer ongoing scholarships. For instance, in 2017, your Alumni Association awarded a total of $137,400 to 13 worthy students to further their education.
