The West Seattle High School Alumni Association inaugurated the Hall of Fame in 1986. Anyone can nominate a candidate they feel deserving to be considered for inclusion to the WSHS Hall of Fame. An Alumnus to be considered should be an outstanding individual who has made a noteworthy contribution to the world around us or the community at large.
Written descriptions of the nominee’s accomplishments and pursuits are submitted to the Alumni Association which narrows the field down to 4 candidates. Those 4 are then presented to the Class representatives for the final vote to decide which two will be inducted for that year. The new inductees are honored at the All-School Reunion held on the first Friday of June at the school. Each recipient receives a plaque plus the honor of having his/her photo mounted on the Hall of Fame wall at the school. As of June 2013, 68 distinguished graduates have been so honored. The Hall of Fame members come from many fields including the arts, sciences, humanities, athletics, business, commerce, politics, community service or any other field.
If you would like to nominate an individual for the Hall of Fame, please submit the following form (download here). Deadline is end of November for the following Spring nominees..
Hall of Fame members are honored on the Hall of Fame wall at West Seattle High School, on the second floor just above the Theatre. In addition, each year’s annual Chinook features the current inductees on the front page of that publication, and for which the last several years can be found under the Chinook tab on this website.
